Opera Integrates Google’s Gemini AI Tool: Enhancing Browser Capabilities

Opera is working to integrate Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence technology into its browser, adding capabilities for text-to-speech and image rendering.

Artificial intelligence tools are becoming increasingly common in operating systems and browsers. Opera has already implemented the Aria AI assistant in its browser, which is based on OpenAI’s large language model. The company has now decided to integrate Google’s Gemini AI tool into Aria.

According to Opera, the company’s Composer AI tool will be able to understand the user’s needs and determine which AI tool to use for each specific task. Google has described Gemini as “the most capable model they have ever built.” Gemini AI has also been integrated into the Android operating system. Following the agreement between Opera and Google, Aria will offer new experimental features to users through the AI Feature Drop program. Users of the Opera One developer version browser will also be able to use Google’s Imagen 2 model for free.

Additionally, users can ask Aria to read text aloud. If the tests go well, Opera will be able to make this feature available to all users. However, it is possible that the features will undergo some changes based on feedback from early testers.

The final decision on this matter will be determined according to the feedback received during the early testing period. It remains to be seen if Google’s artificial intelligence tool will help Opera reach a wider audience.
