Zuckerberg’s Unwavering Faith in Metaverse
Meta has introduced new missions and rewards for all users in Horizon Worlds, their virtual reality interactive platform, now accessible to anyone with a Meta Quest VR headset.
Initially, missions were tested with a game called Giant Paddle Mini Golf in the spring, with two more games, Arena Clash and Bad Roommates, added later. The rewards feature novel outfit choices for avatars.
These missions and rewards, designed by Meta, aim to boost user engagement with their avatars, despite the significant losses the company has faced in this area. Yet, Zuckerberg remains hopeful about the Metaverse’s potential.
Key missions involve tasks like trying on a new outfit avatar reward or changing avatar expressions using the backpack feature.
While these missions may not be as grand as Frodo’s journey to Mordor, they offer engaging activities for users. The Worlds Menu displays the available quests and their respective rewards, with plans to introduce more quests over time.
The latest update to Meta Horizon Worlds also brings a new quick actions menu, enabling users to pause their game and mute, follow, or block anyone they encounter.
In addition to fixing some bugs, Meta has rolled out a new bug-reporting feature, activated by clicking the home button four times in a row or by pressing and holding AB/XY.
