Google Renames Chatbot Bard: Discover the New Name
Google, the US-based tech giant, has taken a significant step with its artificial intelligence technologies. The company has decided to rename its generative AI, previously known as “Bard,” to “Gemini.”
This decision is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its AI-powered services under a unified branding. Interestingly, the name “Gemini” is not new to Google; the company had previously introduced a large AI language model by the same name at an event last year.
This move indicates Google’s strategy to streamline its artificial intelligence offerings under a single, cohesive identity.
The name Gemini began to appear on smartphones
Just a few days ago, app researchers delved into the code of the Google app and discovered that the term “Gemini” was being used instead of “Bard.”
Furthermore, indications of the transition to the name “Gemini” were also found in the code of the service’s web application and website. Nevertheless, the timeline for when this transition will be fully executed, and the name “Bard” will fade into history remains unknown.
Google has not provided an elaborate statement regarding this name change. Nonetheless, it’s a surprising decision considering Google’s usual practice of giving each service a distinct name, such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Assistant, and more.
This change suggests that Google is adopting a more streamlined naming strategy for its services.
