Increase in Metaverse Attacks: NFT, Metaverse, Satellite, Deepfake
Speaking at a cybersecurity meeting hosted by Bitdefender, Berqnet, and Narbulut, Alev Akkoyunlu, the Operations Director of Bitdefender’s Turkey distributor Laykon Bilişim, shared predictions about the cyber threats companies are likely to face in the current year.
Akkoyunlu outlined cybersecurity predictions for 2022, emphasizing that cybercriminals will exploit new opportunities, including the metaverse, NFTs, cryptocurrencies, satellites, and deepfake technologies.
Highlighting the centrality of NFTs in the cyber threat landscape, Akkoyunlu noted that the metaverse will become a new battleground for cybercriminals.
He predicted an increase in attacks on space objects such as satellites, a continued rise in supply chain disruption attacks, and an escalation of phishing attacks utilizing deepfake technology to enhance credibility. Additionally, he suggested that cryptocurrencies will remain a prime target for cyber threats in the coming year.
