Duolingo, a widely recognized language learning app and American educational technology company, has entered the Metaverse with a groundbreaking Roblox activation, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative. This innovative endeavor empowers developers and serves as a reminder to users to complete their homework.
As per the announcement, Duolingo and its iconic Duo Owl logo will be present in Decentraland and Roblox, both prominent decentralized Metaverse platforms.
Duolingo Takes Its First Step Into Metaverse!
The project took shape when Duolingo recognized that users within the Roblox Metaverse, a user-created gaming platform, were developing unofficial Duolingo apps.
In acknowledgment of these dedicated fans, the company has launched a game enabling developers to submit their creations for potential feature in Duolingo’s sandbox.
The implementation team evaluates the applications, leading to the release of over twenty games currently accessible on the Duolingo Game Hub Metaverse within Roblox.
These games provide users with the opportunity to earn tokens in Duo UGC, Duolingo’s native digital currency. Presently, these tokens can be utilized to purchase Duolingo-branded products.
To further incentivize fans, users earn double rewards from games developed by the community.
The overarching goal is to motivate users to explore other user-generated content, fostering a decentralized and community-driven spirit. James Kuczynski, Duolingo’s Creative Officer for Brand and Marketing, emphasized the company’s objective to create a Roblox experience empowering fans to unleash their creativity.
