David Beckham has filed 3 trademark applications for NFT and metaverse!
The iconic football player filed three trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on April 19, as confirmed by NFT and metaverse trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis in a tweet on April 24.
These trademark filings, officially registered with serial number 97369672, suggest Beckham’s intentions in the NFT and metaverse space, encompassing digital tokens, virtual apparel, shoes, headwear, and virtual performances and entertainment events. The trademarks were submitted by DB Ventures Limited, a California-based venture capital firm owned by Beckham.
Notably, Beckham ventured into the blockchain and crypto space in late March, taking on the role of global brand ambassador for the DigitalBits (XDB) layer one blockchain protocol. His involvement aims to leverage his influence to promote the platform and broaden its outreach.
Other metaverse newcomers
Furthermore, Beckham is not the first personality from the football world to explore the metaverse. On March 16, French football powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), featuring stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar, also filed a trademark application in this domain.
The trend extends beyond football, with various notable names across industries filing trademarks related to NFTs and the metaverse. These include the air service branch of the United States Armed Forces, recording artist Billie Eilish, multinational energy company Chevron, global payments facilitator Mastercard, energy drink giants Red Bull and Monster Energy, Mark Zuckerberg, underwear brand Victoria’s Secret, and food industry giants KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, among many others.
