According to recent information, Apple is developing an iPad with a robotic arm that can integrate advancements in artificial intelligence with everyday household appliances. Details about this product are limited for now.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is preparing to introduce its first robotic device, designed to leverage advancements in AI. This new product will be an iPad connected to a robotic arm, with a screen capable of rotating 360 degrees. Although it may resemble devices like the Meta Portal, this robot, equipped with far more advanced technologies, will also feature a screen that serves as the robot’s face. Users will be able to control it entirely through voice commands.
This robot, potentially the first product Apple has designed for the AI era, is expected to be released around 2026 or 2027. Considering that Apple is currently trailing behind competitors in this area, this timeline may give the company an opportunity to catch up. If released as planned, it will likely be one of Apple’s first robotic devices. Additionally, Apple is known to be working on a mobile robot capable of moving around the house, with teams even exploring the development of humanoid models.

This new device gives Apple’s struggling car project a second chance. While a self-driving vehicle can be seen as a large mobile robot, it needs to operate with 100% accuracy. Home robots, on the other hand, will navigate corridors instead of city streets, so even if they make small mistakes, the consequences won’t be fatal.
However, the key question is whether this new device will become a significant revenue source for Apple and generate excitement among consumers. Although the Apple Vision Pro is a marvel of engineering, its high price tag and niche appeal have left it falling short of the expected popularity. Apple, however, seems determined to bring a new, popular product to market—one that could serve as an alternative revenue stream to the iPhone, iPad, and AirPods—evidenced by its extensive R&D efforts.
