Star Trek 4 Shelved; A New Series Will Be Launched
The former Paramount management planned to continue the modern film series—starring actors like Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana—with a fourth film. However, with the change in Paramount’s ownership, these plans have been shelved. The new management has decided to reset the series once again and start a new franchise from scratch.
For many Star Trek fans, this was a long-awaited and desired decision. This is because the modern series, led by J.J. Abrams and Alex Kurtzman, disappointed a large segment of the Star Trek fanbase. Therefore, it is safe to say that there is a significant audience that welcomes this latest development.
It is not yet clear whether this decision will have repercussions on the TV side. The Star Trek shows on Paramount+ are part of the same universe and timeline as the modern film series. Thus, Paramount might include them in this reset decision. However, no such decision has been made for the TV shows yet.
