Pringles Enters Metaverse World

Snack manufacturer Pringles is venturing into the metaverse market, providing players with the opportunity to win $25,000 by taking on the role of non-playable characters (NPCs) in Train Sim World 2.

The growing interest in the metaverse is evident in Pringles’ plan to engage with fans by offering them compensation for participating in the Train Sim World 2 experience as NPCs.

Despite recent criticism of the metaverse concept by industry figures such as Phil Libin, CEO of virtual presentation software company Mmhmm, major tech companies continue to explore metaverse initiatives.

Companies like Epic Games, Bandai Namco, SEGA, and Microsoft are actively involved in metaverse-related endeavors, highlighting the belief that the metaverse is a significant aspect of the near future.

Pringles Now Steps into the Metaverse

This unusual job listing is actually part of Pringles’ “Stay in the Game” advertising campaign, a collaboration between the company and the UK-based advertising agency Gray London.

The nominees were selected at the end of June, and the winner will be announced on July 11. It’s an unconventional way to connect Pringles and the $25,000 prize draw to trending gaming topics like the metaverse, but the company had previously entered the gaming world with a Halo promotion in 2021.

In another peculiar collaboration in 2020, the company was believed to have accidentally leaked the price of the Xbox Series X through an ad.

While the speculated selling price of around eight hundred dollars turned out to be incorrect, Pringles and Xbox have come together once again. Train Sim World 2, central to this strange advertising effort, is available on Xbox Game Pass.
