Magnificent Century Enters Metaverse

The globally acclaimed TV series “Magnificent Century” has ventured into the metaverse through a collaboration between the show’s production company and the metaverse platform, The Sandbox. This significant partnership was unveiled at a worldwide launch event in Paris.

According to the agreement, iconic settings from the series will be recreated in The Sandbox metaverse, beginning in the last quarter of 2023. Additionally, the series’ beloved characters will be converted into avatars.

The launch event, organized by The Sandbox, featured participation from Tims Productions, the series’ production company, as well as Hungri Games and UGC90 game studios. Starting with a workshop, the event continued with a panel discussion on integrating globally famous TV series into the metaverse and concluded with a signing ceremony attended by Timur Savcı, Co-Founder of Tims Productions, Sebastian Borget, Co-Founder of The Sandbox, and Arslan Kiran, The Sandbox Turkey Country Manager.

The “Magnificent Century” series’ virtual location will host various events and offer viewers an engaging, game-like metaverse experience. In the future, characters from the series will become part of NFT and avatar collections, allowing fans to customize their avatars with items from their favorite characters.

“Magnificent Century,” produced by Tims Productions and Timur Savcı, depicts the life of Suleiman the Magnificent, the 10th longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and his consort Hürrem Sultan. It holds the title of the most-watched Turkish TV series ever and is the second international production to make its way into a metaverse platform, following “The Walking Dead.”

Since its entry into the Turkish market in June 2022, The Sandbox witnessed a 114% increase in trade volume in January 2023 compared to the previous month, as per DappRadar data. Introducing “Magnificent Century” to the metaverse not only enhances The Sandbox’s expanding influence in the region but also sets forth a new Web3 paradigm for the TV series and film industry.
