Introducing Zoom Docs: AI-powered Word Processor by Zoom

Zoom has expanded beyond video conferencing and entered the office software market with Zoom Docs, a new AI-powered word processor.

Zoom is extending its influence in the video conferencing realm to the word processing market. The company has introduced Zoom Docs, a tool set to compete with established players like Google Docs and Microsoft Word. According to the announcement on Zoom’s official blog, Zoom Docs will be accessible to both free and paid subscribers, aiming to enhance meeting efficiency.

The features and usage areas offered by Zoom Docs are quite notable. Free users can create up to 10 shared documents and unlimited personal documents without accessing the AI Companion feature. Users with paid Zoom Workplace plans will benefit from the AI Companion, allowing them to work without any limits on shared documents. Zoom Docs enables users to tag colleagues in documents, add comments, images, tables, and bullet points, making collaboration seamless and efficient.

Smita Hashim, Zoom’s Chief Product Officer, stated, “Zoom Docs is our first Zoom Workplace product with built-in AI; it seamlessly transforms information from Zoom Meetings into actionable documents and knowledge bases, allowing teams to focus on meaningful work.” Hashim highlighted that AI Companion supports users throughout the process, and Zoom Docs is available with Zoom Workplace paid licenses at no additional cost.

Zoom Docs is designed to facilitate the creation of collaborative meeting summaries. AI Companion offers various options, such as lengthening or shortening text and adjusting the document’s tone to suit a specific audience. Additionally, it can translate text into nine different languages and catch grammatical errors. However, it is noted that AI Companion’s capabilities may be limited in certain regions.
