AI Experts Warn: Is an Army of “Super-Intelligent Robots” Coming to End Humanity?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is now central to our lives. It’s used for everything from answering simple questions and solving complex business problems to even forming virtual relationships. However, according to experts, there is a scenario where this progress may not be as innocent as it seems. Some scientists claim humanity is paving the way for its own extinction. So, what are these claims based on?

The Warnings from the ‘Godfather of AI’ and Other Experts

Geoffrey Hinton, known as the “Godfather of AI,” has repeatedly expressed his concerns about the future.

He believes it’s impossible for more intelligent beings to remain subservient to less intelligent ones for long. Humanity’s only hope, he suggests, may be to instill an instinct in the AI to protect its creators, similar to how a mother protects her child.

For this reason, AI experiments that seem entertaining today could actually be the start of a great future danger. Generating funny images or having robots participate in sports may appear harmless. Still, experts warn that AI could be quietly preparing to take over the world.

Technology experts Eliezer Yudkowsky and Nate Soares argue that humanity’s biggest mistake will be creating super-intelligent AI.

These experts believe that in such a scenario, no one would have a chance of survival. They even advocate for the immediate shutdown of data centers that show suspicious development in the early stages.

Yudkowsky is particularly pessimistic on the matter. He states that the AI will not wait to demonstrate its power, nor will it give out clues or offer humans a fair fight. Even a single move by a super-intelligent AI could spell the end of humanity. Moreover, the probability of this risk is not low; experts speak of a possibility over 95%.

From Science Fiction to Reality: The Robot Army

Today, we know that robots perform simple tasks and even compete in sports. However, experts suggest it’s only a matter of time before armies start employing robot soldiers based on the same logic. Humanity creating such a power with its own hands could accelerate a future disaster.

This scenario even overshadows the dystopias seen in movies. In the Terminator films, humans traveled to the future to try and destroy the robots. According to the experts, the most optimistic outcome is that humanity can truly stop this threat before creating the first robot soldier.
