The feature that those who watch YouTube videos by skipping ahead have been waiting for is on its way. YouTube will soon automatically jump to the best parts of a video using its AI-powered “jump ahead” feature.
No more constant double-tapping to skip past the uninteresting sections. YouTube is rolling out a new AI-powered “skip forward” feature, enabling users to bypass frequently skipped parts of videos more effectively.
AI-powered jump forward feature is coming
The new feature employs machine learning and tracking data to identify the most frequently skipped parts of a video, allowing viewers to jump directly to the most engaging segments.
A simple double-tap will briefly reveal a “Skip Forward” button in the lower-right corner of the screen. When tapped, this button displays the message “Skipping to the usually skipped section” alongside the YouTube Premium badge.
Currently, this feature is available for English-language videos in the United States. YouTube is reportedly testing it with videos that have high view counts. While this new feature will be advantageous for viewers, it may also lead to a loss of revenue for creators and affect ad placement on videos.
