YouTube is transforming the dubbing landscape with the introduction of an artificial intelligence-powered tool.
This innovative tool is designed to help content creators automatically transcribe their videos into other languages using AI. The initial focus has been on dubbing from English to Spanish and Portuguese, with intentions to expand the range of languages available in the near future.
In collaboration with Aloud, an AI-driven voice-over service, YouTube announced that since June 2023, creators have used this tool to dub over 10,000 videos into more than 70 languages.
Amjad Hanif, YouTube’s Vice President of Product Management, shared that the tool is in its testing phase with “hundreds” of creators.
This AI-enabled dubbing tool represents a significant advancement for content creators, offering them a way to broaden their reach with minimal extra effort. The process involves transcribing the video content, translating it, and then dubbing it into the target language.
Although the tool currently supports dubbing from English into Spanish and Portuguese, YouTube is planning to add more languages to this service in the foreseeable future.
