Xiaomi’s Smart Camera: Introducing the Baby Care Edition

Xiaomi’s new “Baby Care Edition” smart camera, exclusively available in the Chinese market, is designed to enhance family safety with its advanced features. This camera can detect and instantly alert parents to various baby sounds, such as crying and coughing. Additionally, parents can create virtual play areas through Xiaomi’s Mi Home app, and receive notifications when the baby enters or exits these zones.

The camera offers two modes for added security. In native mode, it functions without internet access by directly connecting to a monitor, ensuring that images are not uploaded to the cloud. In online mode, parents can remotely view the camera feed through the Mi Home app. The camera features a 5-inch screen with 720p HD resolution and night vision capabilities, capable of recording images at a resolution of 2880 x 1620. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz), microSD card storage, NAS transfer, and various subscription-based cloud storage options.

Customizable fields in the Mi Home app allow users to specify what shouldn’t be saved. Additionally, the camera features AI algorithms that automatically capture and record special moments in a baby’s development, preserving them forever.

Among its security features, it is important to note that the camera includes a security chip for data encryption and is constructed with materials that are RoHS tested to ensure they are safe and non-toxic. The camera supports various installation methods, including cradle mount, wall mount, and desktop docking, allowing it to adapt to different nursery setups.

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign last month, the product is now available for sale on JD.com at a price of 769 yuan ($106), making it a practical and innovative solution for parents.
