“World’s Most Powerful AI Model” Grok 4 Introduced: The Most Expensive AI Yet

Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, has announced Grok 4. This family of AI models, available in two versions, has reportedly crushed its competitors in performance tests. However, using Grok 4 will come at a significantly high price…
xAI, the artificial intelligence company led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, unveiled Grok 4 at an event last night. According to statements made by Elon Musk, the new version is “far better than PhD level” across the board for academic questions. In fact, Musk even claims that Grok 4 “can invent new things.” The company asserts that Grok 4 is the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence model.
According to announcements made at the xAI event, Grok 4 will have two versions. The second version will be named “Grok 4 Heavy.” As you might expect, Grok 4 will serve as the model for everyday use. Grok 4 Heavy, on the other hand, is a special version of Grok 4 that boasts multi-agent support. Grok 4 Heavy will create multiple agents for a specific problem and form a working group. The work of these agents will then be combined in the final stage. So, how does Grok 4 perform?
Grok 4 Performance and Pricing

Data shared by xAI reveals that the Grok 4 family yielded the best results in almost all tests it undertook. In this context, the shared data indicates that the Grok 4 family managed to outperform models like o3, Gemini 2.5, and Claude 4 Opus in the GPQA, AIME25, LCB, and HMMT25 tests. In addition to all this, Grok 4 has also dominated its rivals in tests like Humanity’s Last Exam and ARC-AGI-2. However, there’s a noteworthy point here. xAI has launched a subscription package called “SuperGrok Heavy” for the firm’s newest models. Users who purchase this subscription package will gain early access to the early preview version of Grok 4 Heavy, as well as the latest features developed by xAI. However, the cost of this package is a hefty $300. The price of SuperGrok Heavy is significantly higher than the prices offered by companies like Google and OpenAI.
This move certainly makes Grok 4 stand out not only for its claimed performance but also for its premium price point. What are your thoughts on this pricing strategy compared to other AI models on the market?
