UPS Cargo Enters Metaverse World

UPS, recognized globally as one of the largest shipping and package delivery services, has made its entrance into the Metaverse by acquiring a space in Decentraland.

In addition to establishing a presence in this virtual world, the company is looking to collaborate with small businesses within this digital realm. The space acquired by UPS will be utilized for hosting events and conducting training sessions.

This initiative was co-launched with The Helping You Be Unstoppable Store and Fast Company, marking a significant step in UPS’s venture into the Metaverse.


UPS Launches Metaverse Initiative!

United Parcel Service (UPS) initially filed trademark applications in April that hinted at its foray into NFTs and the Metaverse.

Following up on these applications, the company recently announced the establishment of a Metaverse space, a project that came to fruition five months later. This unique venue in the Metaverse is designed to offer specialized training for the small business market, focusing on critical areas such as sales and marketing.

As per the latest statements, The Helping You Be Unstoppable Store will facilitate communications within this space. Initially, direct one-on-one interactions with UPS employees won’t be a feature, but plans are in place to eventually introduce a UPS service within the Metaverse universe of Decentraland.

This service aims to enable users to ship cargoes without leaving the virtual environment, though its implementation hinges on the broader success of the Metaverse.

This venture represents UPS’s transition from a traditional Web2 company to embracing Web3 technologies, marking them as one of the last iconic Web2 corporations to make this shift. This move comes in the wake of Disney announcing its intention to hire Metaverse and Web3 specialized lawyers, indicating a growing trend among established companies to expand into Web3 domains.
