Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, caused a stir in California with the unveiling of Quest 3, the company’s newest augmented reality headset. However, the specifics about the metaverse disclosed at the event were somewhat lacking.

As the fields of virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality keep advancing, we’re seeing remarkable progress, especially in gaming and live broadcasting. Finally, Meta has introduced its latest eyewear and headset, the Meta Quest 3.

He only said “metaverse” twice

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and founder of Meta, made a personal appearance at the launch in San Francisco and shared his insights.

A significant topic of conversation was the term “metaverse,” which played a key role in the company’s rebranding. Surprisingly, Zuckerberg only mentioned “metaverse” twice during the entire event, with one occurrence being during the unveiling of the streaming glasses, Ray-Ban Meta.

What’s in Meta Quest 3?

The Meta Quest 3, marking the fourth release by Meta, is described by industry experts as positioned between the Quest 2 and Quest Pro, considering the features of its predecessors.

Scheduled for release on October 10th, the Quest 3 will come in two storage options: 128 GB and 512 GB, with prices set at $500 and $650, respectively. The Quest 2 will continue to be available, currently priced at $300.

Similar to its predecessors, the Quest 3 does not require a console or PC to play games or browse the internet.

A key feature that sets the Quest 3 apart from its predecessors is its pivot from focusing mainly on virtual reality to placing a greater emphasis on augmented reality.
