With Galaxy AI, you will be able to turn portrait photos into a 3D avatar

Samsung announced the new Portrait Studio feature under Galaxy AI at the Unpacked 2024 event. This new artificial intelligence feature allows users to create 3D avatars.

One of the new features of Galaxy AI, Portrait Studio, enables Galaxy users to create various portrait styles, such as 3D animation or watercolor. This feature requires an internet connection, and users must be logged into their Samsung Account.

Samsung’s AI-powered 3D avatar maker supports JPG, HEIC (HEIF), BMP, and PNG files, but the background should not be transparent. Samsung also states that the photo is resized to up to 12 MP after editing. Similar to previous Galaxy AI features, a visible watermark is placed on the photo after saving to indicate that the photo was created by Samsung Galaxy AI.

Samsung isn’t the only tech company working on AI avatars. WhatsApp is testing AI-generated stickers, while TikTok is offering AI-generated digital avatars.
