Top 10 Electric Vehicles of 2025: A Surprise Name at the Peak!

Competition in the Electric Vehicle Market is heating up. Based on Performance, Range, and Driving Experience, Consumer Reports has selected the top 10 electric vehicles of 2025. Don’t make a decision without checking this list!
The popularity of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is increasing, largely because models are becoming more affordable. Yes, EVs are not yet cheaper than their gasoline counterparts, but operating costs can be much more economical compared to fluctuating fuel prices. Moreover, Charging Stations are more widespread than ever. In short, the excuses for not buying an electric car are rapidly vanishing. Here is the list of the best electric vehicles currently on the market, according to Consumer Reports.
10. 2025 Tesla Model 3

Qualifying as the “weakest of the best” on the list, the 2025 Tesla Model 3 performed successfully in road tests. Thanks to the approximately 400 Horsepower provided by its Dual-Motor structure, it completes 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.3 seconds. Combined with its Regenerative Braking System and handling, it offered a very fluid drive. In Consumer Reports’ 70 mph (113 km/h) highway test, it managed to cover 334 miles (537 km) on a single charge.
9. 2025 Audi Q4 E-Tron

The evaluation of the 2025 Audi Q4 E-Tron is slightly more positive than the Model 3, but it’s hard to understand without looking at the details. Although it received lower scores in road tests due to “softer” brake pedals compared to the EV segment and slightly slower acceleration (under 6 seconds for 0–100 km/h), it garnered praise for its All-Wheel Drive System, 258-mile (414 km) Range, and Quiet Cabin.
8. 2025 Tesla Model Y

The refreshed version of 2023’s best-selling car, the 2025 Tesla Model Y, is essentially the SUV interpretation of the Model 3. This means similar driving, handling, and braking performance. The Model Y completes 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.7 seconds. Although its range has dropped to 311 miles (501 km), it still offers longer usage than many of its competitors.
7. 2025 Kia EV9

The 2025 Kia EV9 received a good, but not perfect, Consumer Reports score. Thanks to the 379 Horsepower generated by its front and rear motors, 0–100 km/h acceleration took only 5.3 seconds. While there are slight losses in handling due to its weight, this is a trade-off for its Spacious Interior. The 285-mile (459 km) Range is quite good for its segment.
6. 2025 Audi Q6 E-Tron

The Audi Q6 E-Tron is a better model than the Q4 in many areas. With Launch Control activated, the power can reach 456 Horsepower, carrying the vehicle to 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. A 285-mile (459 km) Range was achieved in tests, though it can vary between 275–321 miles (443–517 km) depending on the model. The real major improvement is in the brakes: The Q6’s Brake Pedal has one of the most solid and consistent feels among models Consumer Reports has examined to date.
5. 2025 Genesis GV60

Although Genesis, under Hyundai, is not as well-known as Kia, it makes a very ambitious debut with the 2025 GV60. Consumer Reports describes the GV60 as “one of the most enjoyable electric vehicles to drive.” The standard 314 Horsepower climbs to 429 Horsepower with the Performance package. While 0–100 km/h acceleration is 5.1 seconds in Comfort and Sport modes, this time drops to 7.8 seconds in Eco mode. Balanced Driving, a successful steering system, and smart weight distribution are other standout features.
4. 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6

The more aerodynamic, refreshed version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6, was developed as a rival to the Tesla Model 3. However, according to Consumer Reports, the Ioniq 6 is the side stepping ahead in this competition. Power options ranging from 225 to 320 horsepower are available; the range varies between 240–342 miles (386–550 km) depending on the model. 0–100 km/h acceleration was measured at 4.6 seconds. While the balanced driving feel and “firm, consistent” brake pedal were praised, the rotary lever used as the Gear Selector was not found to be very intuitive.
3. 2025 Porsche Taycan

When you say “Porsche,” speed, performance, and luxury come to mind. The 2025 Taycan carries this legacy into the EV world and is a serious rival to the Tesla Model S, according to Consumer Reports. Its 295-mile (475 km) Range aligns with the segment average, even if it doesn’t reach earlier claims of 364 miles. 0–100 km/h acceleration takes only 4 seconds. Despite its size, its fluid handling, impressive suspension, and Two-Speed Automatic Transmission received great praise.
2. 2025 BMW i5

You can often tell the quality of a vehicle by its brand. It is no coincidence that Consumer Reports gave the highest score to BMW after Subaru. The 2025 BMW i5 stands out as the fully electric 5 Series. Getting full marks in road tests, the vehicle produces a total of 590 Horsepower with two electric motors. Offering a 295-mile (475 km) Range in the 70 mph (113 km/h) highway test, the i5 completed 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 3.5 seconds. Its Adaptive Suspension felt comfortable on every surface, and its steering is highly precise and controlled.
1. 2025 BMW i4

The best electric vehicle Consumer Reports has examined to date is the 2025 BMW i4. Actually the fully electric version of the 4 Series Gran Coupe, the i4 exceeded expectations. It managed to cover 318 miles (512 km) in tests instead of the estimated 269 miles (432 km). 0–100 km/h acceleration is at the same level as the i5 at 3.5 seconds. Cornering performance, Adaptive Suspension, and the general driving experience are top-tier. However, a small point was deducted because the dependence on the Touch Screen for infotainment and climate control created a bit of clumsiness.
