This is a surprising project from China: The world’s first Pregnancy Robot is on its way

Chinese scientists are aiming to integrate artificial womb technology into a humanoid robot to complete the entire pregnancy process, from conception to birth. The first prototype is expected to be unveiled in 2026.
Chinese scientists are working on what would be the world’s first “humanoid robot“ capable of completing a full pregnancy. Equipped with an artificial womb, this robot is intended to simulate all stages, from conception to birth. The first prototype is scheduled to be unveiled next year.

According to Dr. Zhang Qifeng from Nanyang Technological University, this system is very different from a classic incubator. Inside the robot’s abdominal cavity, an artificial womb filled with amniotic fluid and other artificial organs can completely simulate the entire gestational period from fertilization to birth. While in this environment, the embryo’s nutritional needs are met through a special tube. In his statement on the matter, Dr. Zhang said, “The technology is in a maturation phase; now our goal is to carry out the entire process inside the robot to enable human-robot interaction.”
