Roblox’s Metaverse Game Coming to PlayStation

After 17 years in the gaming industry, Roblox, often hailed as the closest thing to a Metaverse, has announced its highly anticipated debut on the PlayStation platform. This exciting news was unveiled at the 2023 Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), sparking significant excitement among gamers and developers.

Set for an October release, the game has been tailored for the PlayStation 5, yet it will be compatible with PlayStation 4 as well. While Roblox is already present on various platforms including PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Xbox, it has not yet made its way to the Nintendo Switch, although the company has hinted that a version for the Switch is under consideration. Moreover, a virtual reality (VR) version is expected to debut on the Meta Quest platform later this month, following successful testing.

The PlayStation version of Roblox aims to provide users with unfettered access to its vast array of experiences, inviting them to explore a wide universe of user-generated content. The delay in launching on PlayStation has led to speculation, with some suggesting that Sony might have had concerns regarding child safety, as recent documents have implied.

The introduction of Roblox to the PlayStation network represents a significant milestone for the game, enhancing its reach and further establishing its role as a leader in the pursuit of a fully-realized Metaverse. With these latest developments, the gaming community can anticipate even more engaging and varied experiences as Roblox continues to pioneer new territories.

VIDEO CHAT MODE IS COMING

Roblox has also unveiled several new features for the platform. Among these is a video chat option that enables users to engage in one-on-one video chats using their Roblox avatars. Additionally, the launch of a new chatbot named “Roblox Assistant” was announced.

This AI-powered assistant is designed to assist users with various creative tasks, ranging from constructing structures and writing code to creating virtual objects. These features are expected to be rolled out in the upcoming months.
