Ratchet & Clank: Clone Home began development in 2005 by Handheld Games, also the developer of the first game, Going Mobile, but was surprisingly canceled in 2006. After its cancellation, the Ratchet & Clank: Clone Home mobile game became an enduring mystery. It has been announced that after 19 years, the game’s full version has been made completely downloadable and playable.

YouTube creator Golden Bolt began investigating in 2019 after hearing from a former developer that the game was actually completed. Two university students, Emily and Super Gamer Omega Clank, joined the search. According to a post published on the Reddit platform in 2021, the team tracked down an encrypted copy of the game on a Sony Ericsson W880i device. However, the files were protected by the device’s security system and seemed almost impossible to decrypt.

In recent weeks, the team successfully decrypted the phone’s encryption, marking a breakthrough moment. When the game was recovered, it was surprisingly found to be complete, playable, and fluid. The game allowed players to use two different Lombax characters and featured bizarre but fun mechanics, such as the “Ewezie” weapon that turned enemies into sheep.

It is estimated that shortly after its completion, the game was briefly uploaded to the network of carriers like Sprint or Cingular and was completely deleted after being downloaded by only a few people. The reason why the game was canceled is not yet clear, but the possibility of a legal dispute is being suggested.
