It appears that Xbox engineers are currently developing a chatbot aimed at assisting gamers across various topics.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Microsoft is in the process of creating an AI-driven chatbot for Xbox to streamline support procedures. This chatbot, portrayed as an animated virtual assistant, will be tasked with addressing player inquiries and support requests. Moreover, it is anticipated that this initiative will align with Microsoft’s broader AI initiatives.
The Xbox chatbot will possess the capability to access support documentation pertinent to Microsoft’s Xbox ecosystem and network. As a result, it will be equipped to provide players with relevant and helpful answers to their queries. Furthermore, reports suggest that the chatbot may even facilitate game refunds, further enhancing its utility for gamers.
For now, the tests are being done in-house
Microsoft is currently conducting in-house testing of the chatbot, and recently expanded its testing team, indicating that we may soon see a more detailed unveiling of the technology.
Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Gaming AI at Xbox, stated, “We are testing the Xbox Support Virtual Tool, an animated internal prototype capable of voice or text-based inquiries on Xbox Support topics.” Zhang also emphasized that this tool will enable players to access support more efficiently.
In addition to Vodafone and PwC, who offer AI chatbots utilizing Azure AI Bot services, Microsoft is furthering its efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into gaming with this development.
The company also aims to leverage Copilot in a similar manner. At the “Xbox Everywhere” event earlier this year, Microsoft highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence tools in gaming.
