Immortality in the Metaverse: Eternal Life for Avatar Users

Somnium Space, a Metaverse company, has announced plans to create a feature allowing deceased individuals to exist in the digital universe.

The CEO, Artur Sychov, shared that the idea emerged from his own experience of losing his father to cancer and the desire to enable future generations to communicate with their ancestors.

The proposed feature involves collecting and storing the movements and conversations of individuals in the Metaverse as data, creating an avatar that continues to exist in the digital world even after the user’s death.

Sychov emphasized that the purpose goes beyond NFTs and brand promotions, noting the profound impact of creating a means for meaningful communication across generations.

Somnium Space is already compatible with virtual reality glasses and has invested in Teslasuit, a company developing virtual reality clothing. The incorporation of additional data through wearable technology is seen as an enhancement.

The initial step involves Somnium Space users paying $50 to participate in the feature, with the company planning to release avatars based on movement and speech data in the coming year. Sychov believes that, with the help of artificial intelligence, the feature can continue evolving even with older data.
