Google Photos: Transform Your Pictures into Videos with New AI Features

You Can Now Turn Your Photos into Videos Right from Your Gallery: The Most Requested AI Feature Arrives on Google Photos!

Thanks to the new “photo-to-video” feature in Google Photos, you can now turn your photos into videos without ever leaving your gallery.

Google Photos is evolving beyond just a place to store your memories. With new AI features, you can now easily transform your photos into videos, all without needing to exit your gallery.

Whether you want to bring an old vacation photo to life or are looking for creative content to share on social media, it will now be possible to use the new Gemini features directly within Google Photos.

A New “Create” Tab Arrives in Google Photos

You will now see a new “Create” tab in the bottom menu of the app. This tab transforms Google Photos from a simple storage space into a powerful content creation tool.

With this new tab, you will be able to use several different AI-powered tools. The most notable among these is the long-awaited photo-to-video feature. This feature allows you to select a single photo and choose between two different animation styles to create short videos in seconds.

Additionally, collages, highlight videos, and a new style feature called “Remix” are also available in this tab. With Remix, you can apply styles like anime, comic book, or 3D animation to your photos.

These new features are rolling out to users in the US starting today, but Google plans to make them available to all users worldwide very soon.

How to Turn Photos in Your Gallery into Videos?

Using the new “photo-to-video” feature is quite simple. After navigating to the “Create” tab in the app, all you need to do is select a photo. You will then be presented with two options:

  • Subtle touches: Applies small but effective animations to your photo.
  • I’m feeling lucky: The AI tries a random style for you.

While this new feature is similar to the Veo 3 technology Google previously integrated into Gemini, Google Photos currently uses Veo 2. This means it creates 6-second videos rather than the 8-second clips found in Gemini. However, with future Veo 3 support, it will be possible to produce more comprehensive videos.
