Universal Music Group, a renowned record label, has entered the Metaverse through a partnership with the avatar company Genies.
They aim to create digital versions of famous personalities for use in the virtual world. Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Rihanna, J Balvin, Shawn Mendes, Migos, and more will have virtual identities that can be accessed on social media platforms. In the upcoming months, fans will have the opportunity to buy and sell NFT clothing and accessories for these avatars through Genies.
This collaboration marks Universal Music Group’s continued exploration of the Metaverse, following their recent announcement about creating a group by combining four characters from the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, resembling Gorillaz.
Several other prominent brands and companies, including Adidas, Nike, and Roblox, are also actively working on their own NFTs and virtual markets.
The involvement of such influential names in the Metaverse is likely to inspire other brands and game companies, such as Fortnite, to explore opportunities within this virtual world.
What are your thoughts on Universal Music Group’s avatar project featuring famous names? Which celebrities would you like to see involved in this initiative? Feel free to share your ideas in the comments.
