Gemini has surpassed ChatGPT to reach the top spot on the App Store.

Gemini’s ascent in the world of artificial intelligence is attributed to the viral social media trend known as “Nano Banana,” which allows users to transform photos into realistic 3D figures. This trend not only captivated users but also established Google Gemini as a significant player in the chatbot market.

The Nano Banana tool, integrated into the Gemini app, enables users to create or edit visuals with remarkable speed and accuracy. It is reported that over 200 million images have been generated or modified with this tool so far. Users have experimented with various creative prompts, such as turning themselves into action figures, appearing in different historical eras, or adopting the style of famous works of art.
These viral trends have showcased the tool’s versatility and led to widespread sharing on social media. This success has helped Gemini become the most downloaded free app on the Apple App Store, overtaking its rivals. Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis praised the Gemini team on social media, stating that this is “just the start.”
