FC Porto becomes the first club in Europe to collaborate with Upland

Upland, a Metaverse project grounded in real-world geography, continues to attract diverse companies to its virtual world. The latest addition to its growing community is the Portuguese football club FC Porto.

Upland enables individuals or companies to acquire “digital land,” allowing them to construct virtual environments and establish income-generating attractions or businesses. Recently, this virtual space has emerged as a means for sports clubs to engage with fans who can shop or participate in various activities.

FC Porto’s virtual stadium, named Estádio do Dragão, presents a novel digital experience for its fans. Notably, this initiative coincides with the inclusion of the city of Porto on the Upland platform.

The launch of FC Porto’s Metaverse project is slated for the upcoming 2022-2023 football season. Tiago Gouveia, FC Porto’s marketing director, emphasized the significance of interacting with fans through this venture, positioning the club as the first worldwide to establish its own ecosystem in the Metaverse, encompassing the city, stadium, players, and fans.

Tiago Gouveia expressed, “We are always looking for new opportunities, and we will not let the Metaverse surpass us. This partnership is proof of that.”

Dirk Lueth, the co-founder and CEO of Upland, expressed delight in welcoming FC Porto as the first European football club to join the Upland Metaverse.
