Elon Musk is Now Developing His Own Wikipedia: Grokipedia

Elon Musk has now set his sights on Wikipedia. Arguing that Wikipedia has lost its neutrality, Musk announced that his AI company, xAI, is developing a new platform called Grokipedia.

After acquiring X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk suddenly rose to a position where he could control the flow of information, and now he is preparing to take this one step further. Musk, who often takes a side, especially on political issues, is now taking on Wikipedia. Quoting a tweet that argued Wikipedia is biased and controlled by “left-wing activists,” Musk announced the development of a new rival platform, stating, “We’re developing Grokipedia at xAI. It will be much better than Wikipedia. Obviously, a necessary step for xAI’s mission to understand the universe.”

Since xAI is behind the project, it is thought that this will be an AI-driven web encyclopedia. Indeed, information from sources close to the matter suggests that Grok will be responsible for the moderation of this new platform. It is already believed that Musk would prefer to establish a next-generation Wikipedia shaped by artificial intelligence rather than a clone edited by real people. The rumors confirm this.

Criticisms of Wikipedia’s Lost Neutrality Could Boost Grokipedia’s Chances of Success

Elon Musk is not the only person who thinks Wikipedia has become overly biased. David Sacks, whom Musk quoted when making this announcement, also frequently brings up this issue as the former White House lead for crypto and AI. Furthermore, Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger has also stated that the platform has strayed from its principle of neutrality. These are just a few of the high-profile individuals who have recently criticized Wikipedia.

Especially supporters of the Republican Party in the US are increasingly distancing themselves from Wikipedia. And they are not alone. Political groups sharing this view can be found in various countries. In such a climate, Elon Musk’s offering of an alternative with Grokipedia could resonate with this audience. This, in turn, could increase Grokipedia’s chances of success.
