The recent report suggests that Apple has extensively trained Siri and the iPhone’s integrated Spotlight search functionality on large language models, aiming to enhance their capacity for accurately responding to complex inquiries.
An updated version of Spotlight is anticipated to offer more profound integration with “specific” app functions and features.
Furthermore, Apple is delving into AI-powered functionalities that would enable users to automatically generate playlists in Apple Music and create presentation slides in Keynote
It’s also rumored that iOS 18 will bring deeper AI integration to various other apps, including Health, Messages, Numbers, Pages, and Shortcuts, with expectations of additional enhancements.
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, mentioned in an earnings call this month that the company is actively working on generative AI technologies, with plans to unveil more information “later this year.” iOS 18 is expected to be announced at WWDC, Apple’s yearly developer conference in June, with the official release scheduled for September.
Some of the forthcoming AI features might be exclusive to the iPhone 16 models, which are speculated to include a “significantly” improved Neural Engine. Besides iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, Apple intends to introduce new AI functionalities to macOS 15 and Xcode, its app development framework, as per the report.
