If artificial intelligence ruled the country, would you trust it?
Research conducted by IE University in Spain explored the use of artificial intelligence in politics. In the surveys, respondents were asked whether they would trust a system managed by artificial intelligence.
The Netherlands showed the highest trust in artificial intelligence in politics within the European region, with 43 percent of respondents expressing a moderate view of an artificial intelligence prime minister.
Germany and England followed, each with 31 percent. Portugal had the lowest rate at 19 percent.
Factors like climate change and the misuse of technologies such as nuclear power are significant in shaping voters’ trust in artificial intelligence. The survey, involving 1600 respondents, shows that Europe is receptive to the idea of artificial intelligence in governance.
Last year, an artificial intelligence candidate ran for mayor in Japan but did not win the election.
