AirPods Pro 3, Set to Measure Heart Rate, is Coming with a New Charging Case

The AirPods Pro 3 is expected to be unveiled in September. The new AirPods Pro model appears set to arrive with new features like heart rate monitoring, as well as changes to its charging case.
Apple has not updated the AirPods Pro since 2022. The AirPods Pro 3 is rumored to be introduced in September, and a few design changes are expected alongside new features like heart rate tracking.
Smaller Charging Case
Apple reduced the size of the charging case with the AirPods 4 model. With this change, MagSafe charging was removed. Although the earphones support Qi-based wireless charging, they do not contain magnets. The more affordable model, which lacks ANC, does not have wireless charging. The AirPods Pro 3 will have MagSafe charging; Apple is not expected to remove this feature. Similar to the current AirPods Pro, it will have speakers for Find My alerts. However, the new AirPods Pro is expected to have a smaller charging case.
No Pairing Button

The AirPods 4 does not feature the pairing button on the back of the charging case, which was present on previous models, including the AirPods Pro 2. Instead, Apple has placed a hidden capacitive button on the front of the case, just below the status light. To initiate manual pairing, users simply need to open the case and double-tap the front-center area. The same hidden control is used for the reset procedure, which is initiated by quickly double-tapping the case three times while the status light is on. The same is expected for the AirPods Pro 3.
Hidden Status Light
The status light on the AirPods 4 charging case is more concealed compared to the AirPods Pro 2. No distinct LED light is visible when the case is not charging or is closed; the light appears from under the white plastic when the case is opened or placed on a charger. It is likely that the AirPods Pro 3 case will have a similarly hidden status light.
New Design
With the AirPods 4, Apple introduced a new earbud design that more closely resembles the AirPods Pro, with shorter stems and more contoured earpieces for a better fit. However, they do not have silicone ear tips like the AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro 3 may also come with a refreshed design, but what it will look like remains a secret for now.
New Features Coming to AirPods Pro with iOS 26
The iOS 26 update, which will be released during the iPhone 17 launch event, will bring many new features to the AirPods Pro models. These include automatically pausing audio during sleep, using AirPods as a camera remote, an option to keep audio on the AirPods when the iPhone is connected to other playback devices, and improved call quality.
The iPhone 17 event, where Apple is also expected to announce significant AirPods updates, is anticipated to take place on Tuesday, September 9th.
