Google has unveiled a new artificial intelligence feature for Chrome that will automatically summarize articles and websites for users.
This update integrates one of ChatGPT’s popular features into Chrome, enabling users to bypass reading lengthy news articles or reports.
Google Chrome will summarize websites with artificial intelligence
Earlier this year, Google introduced a tool named Search Generative Experience (SGE), bringing a significant innovation to Chrome with an artificial intelligence-based search experience. This feature, made available for Chrome’s mobile applications, allows Google to read and summarize pages for users.
Google has made the process of using page summarization straightforward. After conducting a search on Google and tapping on a news/article link, users will notice a new icon at the bottom of the screen. Clicking this icon reveals a menu that summarizes the key information in the article. This “key points menu,” generated by artificial intelligence, will concisely present the website’s information.
The feature is limited to summarizing public research articles and websites, excluding paid content. Google will also provide users with a cautionary note about the artificial intelligence summaries, emphasizing that they are generated solely by AI without input from individuals who have read or summarized the articles.
