Meta Refuses to Give Up on the Metaverse: Now Launching “Metaversities”!

Meta is pushing forward with its commitment to the Metaverse, this time by collaborating with universities in the United States and United Kingdom to launch so-called “Metaversities”. These selected universities will integrate Metaverse technologies into their educational systems.

The company, which even changed its name from Facebook to Meta to reflect its Metaverse vision, is now taking a bold step in the education sector. Under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg, Meta has formed partnerships with a number of academic institutions to establish virtual universities using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools.

What is a “Metaversity”?

In simple terms, the Metaverse aims to transfer real-life experiences into a virtual world. According to Zuckerberg and his team, this is the future of technology. However, despite investing billions of dollars, Meta has struggled to generate profit from the Metaverse, largely due to widespread public skepticism.

Now, the company is turning to the education industry as a new channel to promote the Metaverse. Through this initiative, courses will be delivered in digital environments, and students will participate using AR headsets to interact with immersive content.

A New Era in Education

According to Meta, Metaversities will revolutionize education in fields such as science, medicine, history, and language arts. Instructors will be able to engage with students more effectively and deliver enriched learning experiences thanks to the immersive technologies being implemented.
