Spain’s largest bank, Santander, is set to host the “Santander X Global Challenge” awards ceremony in the Decentraland metaverse on July 14. The bank referred to it as “Blockchain” in its recent announcement on its website.

The ceremony is the culmination of a competition conducted in partnership with the Oxentia Foundation, which received nearly 400 entries. Following the application deadline on June 9, 2022, an international panel of experts narrowed down the list to 20 finalists.

These finalists presented their solutions to Fintech Station, Santander’s open innovation team, on July 7.

Achievements in new technologies

Out of the 20 finalists, consisting of ten startups and ten scalers, the best performers in providing solutions related to various technologies, including privacy and security for blockchains, adoption and tokenization of decentralized finance (DeFi), and the development and expansion of digital interactions (Web3 and metastore), will be chosen.

The awards ceremony will allocate a total of €120,000 (approximately $121,985) in prizes. Three winning startups will each receive €10,000, and three winning scale-ups will each receive €30,000.

Additionally, the winners will become part of Santander’s global entrepreneurship community, Santander X 100, granting them access to valuable resources such as education, capital, customers, and connections.
