The world’s first World Humanoid Robot Games event took place in Beijing, the capital of China. The organization, which lasted for about three days, was attended by 280 teams and more than 500 humanoid robots from 16 different countries. The robots competed in many branches of sports and arts, from soccer and running to table tennis and dance performances.

In addition to countries like the USA, Germany, Japan, and Brazil, Chinese universities and private companies also participated in the event. Among the participants were 192 university teams and 88 private enterprises. The organization was held at the 12,000-seat National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing.

The humanoid robot olympics offered a quick glimpse into the areas where robots are developing.

The robots didn’t just compete in classic sports; they also participated in robotics-based practical tasks that might make one say, “Robots will take our jobs,” ranging from cleaning to sorting medical supplies. At the opening ceremony, robots danced, played instruments, and even presented kung-fu demonstrations. However, these performances also revealed the technical shortcomings of humanoid robots, such as frequent falling and making mistakes, alongside their successes.
