Unleash Your Creativity with Windows Paint’s AI Image Generator

Microsoft has integrated the OpenAI-powered ‘Cocreator’ image generator into its Paint app, enhancing it with the capabilities of DALL-E. This addition allows Windows 11 users to utilize the ‘Cocreator’ text-to-image generator, directly supported by DALL-E technology.

In September, code snippets were uncovered hinting at Microsoft’s plans to introduce an AI-driven image generation feature named ‘Cocreator’ to its Paint application.

Subsequently, Microsoft confirmed the incorporation of OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 into the Paint app for Windows Insider users.

This feature, now officially launched, is available to all users, marking a significant upgrade to the classic Paint application with advanced AI image generation functionality.

The Cocreator, a new text-to-image generator powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 model, was initially accessible only to Windows Insiders.

Now, this feature has been publicly released, introducing a Cocreator button in Microsoft Paint. This allows all users to generate three distinct image renditions from a descriptive text of their imagination.

While the image generator is a novel addition to Microsoft Paint, the company has been utilizing the DALL-E 3 technology to create text-based images in its other services for some time.

One of the earliest implementations of DALL-E 3 was in Microsoft’s Bing Chat, now known as Bing Copilot.

To use Cocreator in Paint, open the Paint application and click on the Cocreator icon in the toolbar, which opens the Cocreator side panel.

Users can input a description in the text box for the desired image. After entering the text, choose a style for the image creation and click the Create button.

Cocreator will then generate three different versions of the requested image. Users can select and import their preferred image onto the Paint canvas.

Using Cocreator in Paint requires a Microsoft account. Upon activating the feature, users are allocated 50 credits, with each credit being used to generate an image.

Once these credits are exhausted, users must wait before creating additional images.

Currently, Cocreator supports only the English language and is available in the US, France, UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, and Germany. Plans to lift these restrictions are underway.
