Unique Wind Turbine Design Increases Energy Production by 60 Percent

Italian startup GEVI Wind is ushering in a new era in wind energy with its AI-powered vertical micro-turbines. The system increases energy efficiency by 60% with its self-adjusting blades.
Italian startup GEVI Wind has developed a new generation vertical micro wind turbine with AI-controlled, self-adjusting blades. The company announced that the system increases the annual energy yield by 60 percent compared to existing vertical-axis turbines and operates more reliably in all weather conditions.
The startup received $3.1 million in seed funding to accelerate the mass production of this technology. The aim of the fund is to support GEVI Wind’s transition from the prototype phase to industrial production.
The Turbine That Learns from the Wind

The new turbine, which is approximately 3 meters (9.8 feet) high with a 5.4-meter (17.7-foot) rotor diameter, offers a suitable solution for rooftops, industrial areas, and local micro-grids with its compact structure. The most notable feature of the system is its ability to adapt to wind conditions in real-time.
The special AI control system developed by GEVI Wind readjusts the angle of the turbine blades every few milliseconds. This allows the system to instantaneously process data such as wind direction, speed, turbulence, and aerodynamic interaction between the blades to optimize energy production. At the same time, it can self-protect by reducing mechanical stress by up to 80% during extreme wind conditions.
The turbine can generate energy even at low wind speeds of 2.5 meters per second (5.6 mph) and offers a nominal power output between 3 and 5 kW. This makes it ideal for urban and semi-rural areas. Moreover, the system operates at a sound level of only 38 decibels at a distance of 10 meters, which is like a whisper. This makes it suitable for use in residential areas. Furthermore, heavy vehicles such as cranes are not required for its installation.
