The “Temporary Chat” Feature, Long Available in ChatGPT, is Finally Added to Google Gemini

Google has introduced the highly anticipated temporary chat feature to Gemini. These chats will be one-time and will not appear in your chat history.

Google’s Gemini AI tool is undoubtedly one of the biggest competitors to ChatGPT. However, there has been one key feature available in ChatGPT that Gemini was missing, which users have been eagerly awaiting: Temporary Chat. This feature allowed users to have private, one-time conversations that did not appear in their history and were not remembered by the AI.

Google has finally announced that the long-awaited update is here. Users can now use the temporary chat feature in Gemini. The feature was originally announced earlier this month and is now being rolled out.

How to Use the Temporary Chat Feature

The temporary chat feature is being added to the drop-down menu on the left side of the Gemini web version and mobile app. You will see a dashed-line message button to the right of the “New Chat” button. By clicking this, you can start using the temporary chat function.

Google has started a phased rollout of the feature, so it may not be available to everyone yet. It is expected to be fully accessible to all users soon. In this feature, chats will be saved for 72 hours and then deleted. Just like in ChatGPT, if you exit a temporary chat, you will not be able to access it again.

It is also important to note that some features will not be available in temporary chats. You will not be able to use the Gems feature, which allows you to create custom AI bots similar to GPTs. Furthermore, features such as personalized responses, saving information, providing feedback on responses, and using linked apps and services that require Gemini app activity will not be accessible.
