Tesla’s Autonomous Taxi, Cybercab, Debuts on the Asia Stage!

Tesla is set to unveil its autonomous taxi model, the Cybercab, for the first time in the Asia-Pacific region. The vehicle, which will be exhibited at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, is preparing for mass production in 2026.
Tesla is gearing up to showcase its new vehicle, the Cybercab, featuring fully autonomous driving capability, on the stage in the Asia-Pacific region.
Shanghai Debut
Tesla Vice President Tao Lin announced on China’s popular social media platform Weibo that the Cybercab will be displayed at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), held in Shanghai from November 5–10.
This unveiling marks the first official launch of Tesla’s robotaxi project in the Asia-Pacific region. However, it is not yet clear whether the company plans to deploy the Cybercab on Chinese roads.
Mass Production Starts in 2026

The Cybercab, first introduced by Elon Musk in October 2024, was tested at a limited-attendance event in Austin this June. At that time, the vehicle still contained human monitoring systems. Tesla aims to begin mass production by 2026.
Sharing the Stage with Chinese Competitors
The Shanghai expo will also feature leading Chinese technology giants, Baidu and Pony.ai. Both companies have been conducting robotaxi tests in various Chinese cities for a long time. Tesla’s participation in this expo is seen as a strong indicator of its entry into the Asian market in the global autonomous vehicle competition.
Cybercab Design and Features
The Cybercab stands out with its compact design, tailored for short-distance urban transportation. According to Tesla officials, approximately 92% of all trips worldwide consist of one or two passengers. This statistic supports the vehicle’s simple and small-sized design.
For situations requiring higher passenger capacity, Tesla will continue to offer its five-seater alternatives, such as the Model 3 and Model Y.
High Visitor Interest Expected
The Cybercab is expected to attract significant interest from visitors at the expo. Attendees are eager to learn how the vehicle aligns with Tesla’s Robotaxi strategy and the company’s goals to reshape urban mobility for the future.
With this new model, Tesla aims to lead the way in future urban mobility by offering efficient, small-scale, and fully autonomous transportation solutions.
