Bill gates commented on Metaverse

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, has offered compelling insights into the Metaverse. In his prognostications, Gates suggested that virtual meetings within worlds constructed by tech companies championing meta-like technologies could gain widespread adoption in the span of just 2-3 years.

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, has recently made headlines with his comments on the Metaverse. He characterized 2021 as ‘an extraordinarily challenging year’, while voicing optimistic predictions for 2022 and beyond.

According to Gates, companies like ‘Meta’, formerly known as Facebook, could potentially thrust users into a virtual universe where they can play, interact socially, and even work. As a result, virtual world meetings developed under the auspices of tech firms like Meta could potentially become commonplace within 2-3 years.

As the Covid-19 pandemic wanes, Gates highlighted that numerous companies have adapted to remote work policies, marking the commencement of a new era. He believes the pandemic has brought about a revolution in workplaces, the ramifications of which will become clearer in the upcoming years. Eventually, more individuals are expected to embrace the Metaverse, fulfilling their professional responsibilities in this virtual world.

“INTERACTION THROUGH AVATARS”

Gates likened current virtual meetings to the format of the American game show, Hollywood Squares, which originally aired in 1965 and had contestants answering trivia questions in a 3×3 grid. Modern video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom have adopted a similar 2D grid layout.

However, Gates stressed that Metaverse meetings would be significantly more sophisticated, involving interactions with colleagues through avatars. He envisions these virtual environment meetings with 3D avatars enhancing the sense of being in a real room.

“The underlying concept,” Gates explained, “is that you’ll employ your avatar to interact with others in a virtual setting, thus amplifying the sensation of being in a physical space.”

In the years ahead, Gates anticipates a surge in people using avatars for interacting within the Metaverse. These avatars will facilitate meetings and interactions with others online.

Gates also suggested that those who regularly conduct meetings via email or video chat could express themselves more realistically through this method.
