Starlink exceeded 9 million subscribers by adding over 1 million new users in just 47 days. This rapid increase shows that the global demand for satellite internet has reached record levels.
SpaceX’s satellite internet service Starlink continues its global growth at a record speed, crossing the 9 million active subscriber threshold. According to recent data shared, Starlink managed to gain over 1 million new users in just 47 days. This increase indicates that satellite-based broadband internet is being adopted increasingly fast worldwide.
A Strong Finish to 2025
In an official announcement made by Starlink on Monday, it was stated that the service now provides high-speed internet in 155 countries and regions. In the last update shared a little over a month ago, the number of subscribers was over 8 million. In the statement celebrating the new milestone, the company thanked its users worldwide and underlined that its global coverage area is expanding steadily.
Data reveals that Starlink added an average of approximately 21,275 new users per day during this period. This figure indicates an acceleration of approximately 50%, surpassing the daily average of approximately 14,250 new subscribers recorded in the previous period. The service reached 7 million subscribers in August and 8 million in November. The Starlink network currently has over 9,300 active satellites in orbit.
The main driver behind the growth is the intense demand from rural, remote, and limited-access regions where traditional fixed infrastructures fall short. In countries with vast geography or challenging terrain conditions, Starlink has become a de facto standard for households, businesses, emergency services, and mobile users where fiber or cable infrastructure cannot be economically delivered.
Great Potential in Tesla’s Patent
We may witness much more aggressive growth for Starlink in the coming years. According to a new patent application filed by Tesla recently, Starlink could be integrated into the car roof in a hidden manner. This technology could ensure Tesla vehicles stay connected even in out-of-coverage areas. Tesla is considering completely redesigning the vehicle roof for this purpose.
