Smart Glasses Era for Traffic Police

Within the scope of a project initiated in China, it has been reported that traffic police have begun using smart glasses to perform real-time inquiries and scans.

Developing artificial intelligence technologies have begun to manifest in the field of law enforcement services. Following the long-standing use of body cameras in police services, smart glasses are gradually being deployed.

Smart Glasses for Traffic Police

As part of the project launched in China, AI-powered smart glasses have started to be distributed to traffic police. With these smart glasses, processes such as scanning vehicle license plates and accessing driver data will become much easier for officers. Equipped with a 12MP resolution camera, the results are instantly displayed on a mini-projection screen.

The glasses, which can be used for up to 8 hours, feature functions such as real-time translation for up to 10 languages and video recording. Although the exact source is not fully clear, it appears that a tablet or smartphone is used as the processing unit.

The digital surveillance of citizens has already reached peak levels in China. From ID scanning to facial recognition, it is nearly impossible for citizens to evade the system. Through this, offenders and those with poor financial records are blacklisted and marginalized from society. Thanks to this massive database, smart glasses can complete traffic control checks within just 10 seconds.
