Samsung’s Smart Glasses Coming Next Year: Expected Features Revealed

Samsung‘s first XR glasses have surfaced with the model number SM-O200P. What will the glasses, expected to launch next year under the name Galaxy Glasses, offer?

Having introduced the Galaxy XR headset last month, Samsung‘s next product in the series will be smart glasses, as indicated by many previous rumors. The company’s first XR glasses have appeared with the model number SM-O200P. The letter “O” in the model number indicates that the device is not a new headset but a different type of device; because the Galaxy XR headset‘s model number featured an “I” in this position.

It is stated that Samsung‘s first XR glasses will have a structure similar to the smart glasses produced by Meta in partnership with Ray-Ban. In fact, previous information suggested that the company would first introduce a screenless model in 2026, followed by a version with a screen in 2027.

What will Samsung Galaxy Glasses offer?

According to claims, the first model will feature Transitions-type lenses. These lenses automatically darken when exposed to sunlight and become transparent again when moving indoors. Since Transitions is a registered trademark of EssilorLuxottica, which also owns Ray-Ban, it is a matter of curiosity whether Samsung will use direct Transitions lenses like Meta or prefer similar photochromic lenses.

Just like Meta‘s Ray-Ban glasses, Samsung‘s model will feature a camera, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. However, in addition to these, Samsung‘s glasses will also offer mobile data connectivity, which is absent in Meta‘s glasses. Since the company previously trademarked the “Galaxy Glasses” brand, it is highly likely that the product will be released under this name.
