New claims about Half-Life 3 are on the agenda. The game could be released in Spring 2026 alongside the Steam Machine. Here are all the details.
Half-Life fans are known for their patience. The latest test of this patience for strict followers of the series came from the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast. According to information shared in the program, the highly anticipated third game of the Half-Life series could meet players in the spring of 2026 with the launch of the Steam Machine.
“Half-Life 3 is Real and Will Be a Launch Title” Mike Straw shared the information conveyed to him in the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast with these words: “The specific timeframe told to me is Spring 2026 for Steam Machine, Frame, Controller, and Half-Life 3. At the end of the day, I can say this: This game truly exists.” Straw emphasizes that Half-Life 3 is planned as a launch title to be released in the same period as Valve‘s new hardware.
Hardware Prices Are Challenging Valve According to Straw, all previously discussed announcement dates regarding Half-Life 3 have passed. Despite this, his sources are quite determined that the game will still be released with the Steam Machine. However, there is an important problem at this point: hardware costs. A sharp increase, especially in RAM prices, makes it difficult to determine the sales price of the Steam Machine. This situation causes Valve to delay official announcements.
Price Uncertainty Delays Announcements Straw summarizes the indecision on the Valve side as follows: “The fact that a clear decision has not yet been made regarding the price is holding back all other announcements. I have no doubt that Valve is still in the evaluation phase due to developments on the component side.” This uncertainty prolongs the wait for both the Steam Machine and Half-Life 3.
No Official Statement, But There Is Still Hope Although fans expecting a hint or a short teaser during The Game Awards were disappointed, no official statement has come from the Valve side yet. Nevertheless, hopes are not completely exhausted. Valve updating Half-Life 2 exclusively for its 20th anniversary and previously raised rumors show that Half-Life 3 is still in the development phase. In fact, according to some claims, the game is in a playable state from start to finish.
