Renowned for her unique vocal style, music star Miley Cyrus has joined the wave of entities and brands making a foray into the digital realm.
On August 16, she filed two trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for ‘Miley’ and ‘Miley Cyrus.’ This strategic move positions her brand within the burgeoning digital space, particularly in areas related to the metaverse and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
This significant development was announced in a tweet by Mike Kondoudis, a prominent trademark attorney specializing in NFT and metaverse-related matters, on August 22.
This announcement highlights Cyrus’s engagement with emerging digital technologies, marking her entry into the ever-evolving landscape of digital assets and virtual worlds.
According to Mr Kondoudis, trademark applications will include NFTs such as the singer’s virtual money management software, virtual clothing and shoes. Officially registered under the trademarks serial numbers 9755121 and 97551195.
American singer, songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus’s trademark filing for the metaverse comes after fellow recording artist Billie Eilish’s announcement in May.
Billie Eilish, her company Lash Music LLC, had filed a couple of trademark applications for her name and the Blohsh logo.
