Metaplanet announced a record-breaking purchase of $632.5 million worth of Bitcoin. The Japan-based company acquired 5,419 BTC, marking the largest single purchase in its history.
CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the average purchase price was $116,724 per Bitcoin. With this latest acquisition, Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings have increased to 25,555 BTC, acquired at an average price of $106,065 for a total cost of approximately $2.71 billion.
This purchase makes Metaplanet the fifth-largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin, surpassing Bullish. The company now ranks behind Strategy, Mara, XXI, and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company. Michael Saylor’s Strategy remains the largest holder with 638,985 BTC.
