Investments in Metaverse Startups in Europe Tripled

Venture capital firms significantly increased their investments in European metaverse ventures in 2022, with funding more than tripling compared to the previous year. In 2022, metaverse startups based in Europe attracted $666 million in investments, a substantial rise from the $143 million recorded in the prior year.

Notably, Improbable, a platform specializing in Metaverse development, and nfinite, known for creating AI-powered 3D simulations, were among the startups securing the largest funding rounds. Improbable successfully raised $150 million in an investment round in April, followed by an additional infusion of $112 million in October.

Meanwhile, nfinite achieved a milestone by raising $100 million in a round led by Insight Partners. This surge in investment highlights the growing interest and confidence in the potential of the metaverse and related technologies in the European market.

Namat Bahram, a representative from Omers Ventures, has shown keen interest in several metaverse initiatives. These include Eleven Labs, Condense Reality, Moralis, and Hadean, all of which are on the firm’s radar for potential investment opportunities.

Similarly, the team at Amadeus Capital has expressed their engagement with companies such as Kubos, Deep Render, and ARUVR, indicating a strong interest in these ventures.

LocalGlobe partner Zic Reichert has also highlighted several startups in the sector. Reichert’s list includes Cusomuse, ShapesXR, MetaVoice, and Unai, suggesting these are among the ventures that LocalGlobe is closely monitoring.

Adding to this, Sabrina Wizander, one of the partners at Creandum, has indicated their close tracking of Ready Player Me, The Fabricant, and Sloyd. This demonstrates Creandum’s focused attention on these particular metaverse-related startups. This collective interest from various venture capital firms underscores the growing momentum and investment potential within the metaverse sector.
