Google’s Nano Banana Model Arrives in Photoshop: New AI Options

Adobe has added third-party AI models to the beta version of Photoshop. Visual generation is now more diverse with Gemini and Flux.
For the first time, Adobe has begun offering AI support in the Photoshop beta that goes beyond its own developed models. Users can now test the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (a.k.a. nano banana) and Flux.1 Kontext Pro models. This innovation allows designers, especially those using the Generative Fill tool, to create content with different AI engines without leaving the project. This feature, currently only active in the beta version, may be added to the standard Photoshop in the future.
Integrated Structure That Fixes Errors

Images produced with AI can sometimes contain errors called “hallucinations.” The advantage of Photoshop is that it allows these errors to be corrected instantly.
Deepa Subramaniam, VP of Creative Professional Marketing at Adobe, summarizes the point:
“The full power of Photoshop is at your fingertips. You can improve the results with layers, masks, and selection tools simultaneously while testing the new AI options. The key is the integration of all these capabilities within Photoshop.”
Google’s “Nano Banana” Model in Photoshop

Google’s notable AI model, Nano Banana, was already being used on platforms like Adobe Express, Firefly, and Google AI Studio. Now, Photoshop users can also access this popular model.
Additionally, Creative Cloud standard members (Photography plan, Photoshop single-app plan, etc.) receive 100 lifetime generation credits for each model, while Creative Cloud Pro members can use 500 credits per day for each model. Until October 28th, all models can be tested for free without spending credits.
Greater Flexibility with Generative Fill
For now, third-party AI models can only be used with the Generative Fill tool. This tool allows users to select specific areas and then use text prompts to recreate that area with AI.
Users can choose to:
- Select a specific area and make changes, or
- Select the entire project and ask Gemini or Flux to reinterpret the entire work.
Adobe emphasizes that these external models also operate within its own AI usage policy. However, caution is advised regarding commercial use, as third-party models may not be as safe as Firefly.
Photoshop’s AI Journey
Adobe has added many AI tools to Photoshop in recent years. Tools like Generative Remove, which easily removes unwanted elements, stand out. Still, Adobe is focusing more on editing-oriented innovations rather than completely generating content from scratch.
